The Epsilon Phi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta was founded at UChicago in 1986.

Its official colors are black and gold, its flower is the pansy, and its symbols are the kite and twin stars.

Kappa Alpha Theta is an international not-for-profit organization composed of both college and alumnae chapters throughout the United States and Canada. Their philanthropy is CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). The intellectual ambition of the Fraternity shall be the attainment of highest scholarship. The social aim of the Fraternity shall be to exercise the widest infuence for good. The moral aim of the Fraternity shall be the standard of love. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, Kappa Alpha Theta exists to nurture each member throughout her college and alumnae experience and to offer a life-long opportunity for social, intellectual and moral growth as she meets the higher and broader demands of mature life.

Our Philanthropy

The National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association (CASA), together with its state and local member programs, supports and promotes court-appointed volunteer advocacy so every abused or neglected child in the United States can be safe and have a permanent home and the opportunity to thrive. Since 1989, Kappa Alpha Theta has been a philanthropic partner of CASA, leveraging the power of our sisterhood’s collective impact. Theta’s chapters have been the driving support of this initiative, demonstrating their belief in National CASA’s mission and their concern for children in foster care across the United States.
